ANPR — Automatic Number Plate Recognition

Feel free to try out this Automatic Number Plate Recognition demo… upload a photograph with a car’s licence plate in the frame and it’ll try and read it… it takes some time to process so be patient. It isn’t very reliable:

Facebook applications

Around 130 years of peoples’ time have been spent using my various Facebook applications since August 2009. However, I think that the upcoming changes to the platform will have a negative effect for most Facebook API developers. The changes being made include removing notifications for when a user makes an action with an application (e.g. […]

Years spent a month by website users

Taking last month as an example (September 1st  —  October 1st), one of my more popular web applications was used by 332,174 unique visitors, spending an average of 6 mins 37 secs.
Working from that figure, 3.971 years are spent  using the applications per month!

Backup your Facebook photos and friends list

This is a useful application that will back up your Facebook photographs and friends list. It doesn’t require any installation (I don’t like installing software as it can slow your computer down). It worked very well when I used it.
Facebook, a social network with over 250 million users, contains a massive amount of photographs (estimated at […]

Manfrotto 7302YB M-Y Tripod with Ball and Head

A light tripod with a head with no handle to help with panoramic photographs. It also looks like the head can be reversed, so I can take a high-quality photograph of the ground (nadir).

Tokyo Capsule Hotel

I found these sites about Tokyo Capsule Hotels interesting:

Capsule Hotel in Ikebukuro, Tokyo at HotelsByCity
Featuring a photograph by Charles Tyack of the Capsule Hotel
Capsule Inn Akihabara

They look very interesting!

New ‘blog coming soon

I’m currently working on converting my ‘blog’ from my homespun blog software to WordPress. I have decided to do this as there was little point reinventing the wheel, and whenever I find a missing feature I’ll have the opportunity to make one and share it and give something back to this open source community.

Vacation — USA

I’m writing this entry on an airplane. I’m on vacation going to the west coast of the USA for fun times. You may be able to see random videos sent from my phone on this Qik.com link.

Back!

The blog is back! After a long time of not having a place to publish any interesting snippets or projects, I am slowly building this new site. I’m not sure if I will keep this blog, but hey, it’s a personal site so I can play around to my heart’s content.
