Hi Jon,

Is the underlying script for this written in PHP? I was going to start work on a script for one of my own projects — it requires an uploaded photograph to have the number plate blurred.

The blurring part is easy using GD or imagick, but finding the letters to be blurred is less so — I was looking at PHP solutions for OCR etc… until I saw your implementation!

Any pointers?

Be carefull when using Clickheat (Labs Media). I’ve read some articles saying Clickheat integrates a small link into your sourcecode going back to the Labs Media website. Means more incoming links for them, and better results on the SERP’s. This kind of linking could even be dangerous for you, as google analytics is not so fond of these links. It is possible to take the link out of course. I’ve made a list of free alternatives for crazy egg, which you can read on my blog, if interested .

Did you had any problems with Clickheat ’till now?

Great Blog — it is descriptive and particularly like that there are links out to other sites if I want to find out more information. I like photography but would like to know more about the technicalities so it is cool that someone has spent the time to explain the process clearly and give eamples too. I especially like “The Street scene at night in Santa Monica” and the stars that are created with the long exposure. One to try at a later date. I will definitely be beck to find out what Jon has been working on next.
